change your career /
do work that matters...

th Sept.
Maximum 12 spaces
The Programme starts on 30th September.
Programme runs Wednesdays, 6-8pm through to 2nd December.
Applications deadline is 12th September
What is the programme? /
This is a ten-week course for people who want a career that means something, but can't just blow up their lives and walk away from everything they've built. Instead of waiting for the perfect opportunity somewhere in the future, you'll learn how to create real impact from where you are, inside or alongside your current role.
Working with a small group of people in exactly the same position as you, you'll discover the kind of work that gives your life more joy and meaning, then begin building it in a way that fits the life you already have.
This Christmas you'll be able to tell people why you seem different. And it won't be because of the face peel.
Who is it for? /
This is for people who feel stuck and uncertain. You've built a strong career and you're good at what you do, but it no longer feels enough. It's started to feel a little like a trap: Bills, mortgages, dependants, holidays, expectations. All good things, but together they can make changing direction feel daunting.
You look at the challenges facing the world and know that you want your work to contribute to building a better future. You just don't know what that looks like.
How does it work? /
The programme runs over ten weeks and combines group coaching, practical learning, reflection, one-to-one coaching and, most importantly, real work in the world. The point of this programme isn't simply to find work you love. It's to learn how to create change, and to begin doing it.
Six group sessions /
These sessions are the backbone of the programme. Together we explore where you are now, what gives you energy, what impact could look like for you, and how to start moving towards it. Along the way I'll introduce tools, ideas and techniques to help you make sense of where you are and what comes next.
Pods of three /
You'll be placed into a small group of people facing similar questions. You'll meet informally between sessions to talk through what's happening, challenge each other's thinking and, when life gets busy, keep each other moving.
1:1 coaching /
You get three individual sessions with me because changing direction is personal, and some conversations don't belong in a group.
Early on I wear my coaching hat, helping you understand yourself and what really matters. Halfway through I become more of a consultant, helping you think strategically about where you can have the greatest impact. Towards the end I'm more of a mentor, helping you make sense of everything you've learnt and decide what comes next.
Learning /
I've spent twenty-five years working across business, charities and the public sector, so I'll bring in ideas, frameworks and examples that fit the questions this group is wrestling with. Coaching is always the focus, but where knowledge will help, I'll point you towards books, articles, courses and people worth knowing. The aim isn't simply to know more, it's to learn by applying those ideas to your own work.
Real work, in the world /
This course is about getting moving and learning how to make a difference. Over the last twenty-five years I've worked with businesses, charities and governments trying to tackle some of society's biggest challenges. One thing has become increasingly clear to me: lasting change rarely begins with heroic individuals. It begins when ordinary people decide to use the skills they already have to improve the bit of the world they can reach.
What you build will be different for each person. For some it's a new initiative inside the organisation they're already in. For others it's becoming a trustee, mentoring, volunteering their professional skills, advising a charity, retraining, or creating something entirely their own.
There isn't one right answer. The important thing is that you leave already making a contribution, rather than simply thinking about one. Careers rarely change because of a single decision. They change because you start doing different things, and your career gradually catches up.
"Create the impact from where you are, and let the evidence decide where you go."
The shape of the programme /
01
Audit
Stop guessing what's wrong /
We start with a structured audit of where you are. What do you like about your current working identity? What do you want to keep, and what do you want to lose? What do your weeks actually feel like? Everything out of your head and onto paper, where you can finally look at it. You leave with:
-
A completed identity audit and purpose map
-
A clearer picture of what to keep, lose and protect
-
Your Personal Impact Canvas started
Imagine
Find the pull, not the escape /
Together we’ll imagine several different futures that genuinely appeal to you, rather than trying to choose the “right” answer straight away. Then we’ll start testing them against reality: your energy, your identity, your values and the life you already have.
-
Two or three futures worth exploring
-
Your first conversations and experiments underway
-
A better sense of what genuinely pulls you
02
Locate
Find your bridge /
We explore how change really happens and where you already have influence, relationships and opportunities. Then we look for the bridge between where you are today and where you want to be, identifying the openings that are genuinely worth exploring.
-
A map of where you could create impact
-
A shortlist of opportunities worth testing
-
The beginnings of your own piece of impact work
03
Design
& Build.. /
By now you’ll have explored different futures, spoken to people and gathered evidence. Together we’ll use that to design a meaningful piece of work that’s ambitious enough to teach you something and realistic enough to begin immediately.
-
Your piece of impact work designed
-
First actions completed
-
Clear evidence you’re looking for
04
Refine
05
Strengthen with evidence /
By now your project is real. Some ideas will have gathered momentum. Others won’t. Together we’ll review the evidence, strengthen what deserves more attention and let go of what doesn’t
-
A clearer direction
-
A stronger project
-
A better story about yourself

The way forward /
We turn everything into a 100-day map with three concrete moves: one inside your current work, one into the wider network, one that builds your evidence. Your experiment sits at its centre: you complete it in those 100 days and report back at the reunion. You leave with:
-
A completed Personal Impact Canvas
-
A practical 100-day roadmap
-
Three clear next commitments
-
A piece of impact work already underway
You already know the feeling this programme is for. The Sunday-night feeling...a bit empty, something nagging at you. The suspicion that you're wasting important years being good at something that doesn't matter to you. Worse, that what you do is causing damage to society, to the planet, to the future? The loop: research a course, price up a pay cut, close the tab, watch a film. You've probably concluded the problem is too hard, the jump too big, the risk too large, the effort to great... or some missing quantity of courage or clarity.
It isn't. You've been offered the wrong tools: reflection when you needed evidence, inspiration when you needed structure, a leap when you needed a next step. So this is what you actually need and how we will support you.

Application form /
Why do I need to complete this form?!
It's important that this programme is the right fit for you. As places are limited, I'd like to understand a little about you, where you are in your career and what you're hoping to get from the programme. This isn't a test, and I'm not judging your achievements. I'm simply trying to build a group of people who will get the most from the experience and from each other.
*If your application is successful, I'll send you a payment link for the £100 deposit. Your place will be held for 72 hours from the time I send the link.

Is this a job change programme? /
Sometimes, but not always. Some people use the programme to reshape the job they already have. Others discover a longer-term career move. Some find ways to create more impact alongside their existing career. The aim isn't to make everyone leave their job. It's to help you start moving again, wherever that eventually leads.
How is this different from other career programmes? /
There are many different approaches to helping people change careers. This one is built around helping you start something real and impactful. That is what I would want. By the end of the programme you'll have had conversations, tested ideas and started a real piece of impact work, rather than simply having a plan.
What do you mean by "impact work"? /
For the last twenty-five years I've been designing and running programmes that help people tackle big societal challenges. Something kept happening that I wasn't expecting. At the end of those programmes, people would often tell me they'd changed jobs. Some had discovered the kind of work they really wanted to do. Others had found new confidence because they now had stories and experience they could talk about. Quite a few stayed exactly where they were, but started doing work they genuinely cared about.
It made me realise that people rarely changed because somebody told them what job to apply for. They changed because they'd spent months doing meaningful work, alongside good people, and slowly became someone different.
I started wondering what would happen if you designed a programme around that idea from the beginning.
over/under is my answer.
"Create the impact from where you are, and let the evidence decide where you go."
Impact work is simply work that makes life a little better for other people or the world around you. For one person that might mean leading something new inside their organisation. For someone else it could be becoming a trustee, mentoring, volunteering their professional skills or starting something of their own. There isn't a right answer. The programme is about helping you find yours.
Do I have to leave my job? /
No. In fact, one of the ideas behind the programme is that many people have far more opportunity to create positive change from within their existing organisation than they realise. Some people do move on afterwards. Others discover they never needed to.
If you know in advance, we'll work around it as best we can. You'll still have your pod, your coaching sessions and the materials from the programme, so missing one session shouldn't stop you making progress.
What happens if I miss a session? /
You won't be. One of the nicest parts of every group I've worked with is the moment people realise they've been carrying very similar questions on their own for years. Having other people making the journey alongside you makes a bigger difference than most people expect.
What if I'm the only one who feels like this? /
The programme is designed for people with busy jobs, families and full lives. Expect around three hours a week, including the live sessions and the work between them. The aim is to help you make steady progress without turning it into another full-time commitment.
What if I don't have enough time? /
That's probably the most common starting point. Most people don't discover the answer by thinking harder. They discover it by trying things, meeting people and building evidence. That's what the programme is designed to help you do.
What if I don't know what I want to do? /
Where did "over/under" come from?
By the end of the ten weeks you'll have a piece of impact work underway and a practical ninety-day plan for what comes next. Three months later we'll meet again as a group to see where everyone's journey has taken them and what they've learnt along the way.
